Bill Rizzo

Project Executive

Bill Rizzo is an entrepreneurial engineer and city planner with five decades of private and public sector experience in building and infrastructure development and construction. He and Gerry Kavanaugh, CMK CEO have worked together in various capacities for forty years.

Bill has undergraduate degrees in Civil Engineering and Applied Science from Lehigh University and Masters in Civil Engineering and City Planning from Georgia Tech. In 1983 he founded and grew Rizzo Associates, an engineering consulting firm to over 200 employees with five offices, with notable leadership of the design and construction management of Gillette Stadium for the New England Patriots and major highway and bridge sections of the Big Dig in Boston. Rizzo Associates is now part of Tetra Tech, the fourth largest engineering design company in the U.S.

Prior to founding his firm, Bill was Assistant Secretary of Transportation for Massachusetts, where he was responsible for the preliminary engineering and environmental permitting of the Ted Williams Tunnel, in addition to all new highway construction statewide. Prior to that he was City Planner for the City of Leominster, MA.

Bill has held leadership positions in and been honored by numerous engineering professional organizations including The Engineering Center Education Trust, the Boston Society of Civil Engineers, the American Council of Engineering Companies and the Women’s Transportation Seminar. He has served as an advisor to or Board member for multiple engineering and environmental consulting firms.

Bill lives in Lincoln, MA with his wife, Jane and their beloved dog, Blossom and enjoys his five grandchildren.
