All of the principals at CMK have long been involved in commercial development, including office, retail, and industrial. With more than 50 years of combined experience, CMK has been integrally involved in the design, engineering, and construction of large office projects, retail centers, and industrial parks.
COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENT
CMK principals have individually been involved in the permitting, design, and construction of hundreds of residential units, including all product types – single family, townhouses, multi-family, and assisted living. These units have been built in more than half a dozen communities in Massachusetts.

CMK principals have designed, regulated, and built a myriad of different types of affordable housing. As public officials, a number of principals regulated affordable housing projects in a number of different Massachusetts cities.

Gerry Kavanaugh has extensive experience in the development of higher education facilities. As the CEO of Higher Ed Partners, Gerry spearheaded the construction of satellite campuses for five community colleges. As the Senior Vice Chancellor at UMass Dartmouth, he participated in the privatization of its dormitories. As the Director of Institutional Development at the Boston Redevelopment Authority, he oversaw the design and construction of more than one million square feet of new educational space on Boston’s university campuses.
HIGHER EDUCATION
CMK has raised millions of dollars in both debt and equity for small and large scale development projects, both commercial and residential. It has extensive relationships with mortgage brokers, commercial banks, private equity funds, institutional funds, and Taft-Hartley funds across the country.
